Hi guys! I am so excited to finally be getting this post up! I went to New York Fashion Week this year (September 6-9th) for the first time and I seriously had the BEST weekend ever. It has always been a goal of mine to attend NYFW, so when the opportunity presented itself this year I was not going to pass it up. I was pretty nervous about making the decision to attend because going to a huge event like NYFW by yourself is prettyyyy intimidating, but I was SO happy when I found out one of my favorite girls on Instagram (@saragailvickers) was going the same dates as me, and we ended up going to all of our events together! We both traveled with our husbands but they didn’t attend any of the events with us. It definitely made me feel so much more comfortable going with a friend rather than going alone, so if you are thinking about going next year I highly recommend finding a friend or a group of girls to go with!
DAY 1: Nathan and I arrived to New York on Thursday (9/6) and we stayed at the MOXY in Times Square. I knew hotel rooms in NY were small, but let me tell you our room was SMALL. Poor Nathan was tripping over my suitcases, clothes and shoes all weekend, but hey, that’s NY hotels for you! The location of the hotel was perfect because it was a short distance away from the events I attended. Although it was only 1-2 miles from the events, it would take at LEAST 20 minutes to get anywhere in an Uber or a cab because the traffic is truly that bad. After we were all checked in, I started getting ready for my first event which was a panel presentation at Banana Republic. I wore the outfit pictured above, and I loved it so much! I am loving the polka dot trend for fall, so I was so excited when I found this dress from Revolve. I liked all of the ruffle details plus the fun sleeves- it felt very NYFW to me, so I couldn’t wait to wear it! I paired it with suede OTK boots and a baker boy hat. I was actually so happy that I wore a hat to the event because as soon as the Uber dropped Sara and I off, it started to downpour as we were running into Banana Republic. Luckily we got inside before we got too wet, but I was happy that my hat saved my hair š When Sara and I arrived, we saw a bunch of girls we knew from Instagram, so it was super fun to finally meet them in real life. We stayed and mingled at the event for a couple of hours, and then I met Nathan for dinner at an amazing restaurant called STK- I highly recommend it if you are ever in NYC!!

DAY 2: On Friday, my event was the rewardStyle rooftop party which I was sooo excited for. I had attended one other rewardStyle event last year in Chicago and everything about it was amazing, so I knew this rooftop party would be incredible. It was an afternoon event at the Monarch Rooftop Lounge, and it was actually just a couple of blocks from our hotel so Sara and I walked there because it was much faster than taking an Uber. As soon as we walked into the event, there was an iced coffee bar where a photographer would take your photo and then make the foam on top of your coffee the photo he just took (see photo below)! RewardStyle seriously knows how to throw a party and they don’t leave any detail out! They had the most beautiful backdrop with a professional photographer taking pictures of everyone. This is the event where I truly felt like my Instagram feed had come to life. I got to meet and chat with girls I have been following for years which was so amazing. It was so cool talking to people who I have looked up to and finding out that they are even sweeter and more beautiful in person! The blogging community is truly special and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
Love these girls! Jenn, Sara, Karina, me, and Ashley
DAY 3:Ā The 3rd day was really fun because the only event I had was the LIKEtoKNOW.it party at night, so Nathan and I got to play tourists that day. Nathan had found a breakfast place he really wanted to go to in the Meatpacking district called Bubby’s and it was amazing. We both got pancakes and bacon and it was our favorite meal of the trip. After breakfast we went to the 9/11 memorial which was very moving and quite honestly so depressing, but it was something I had wanted to see so I’m glad we got to visit it. It was very surreal being there especially because it was just 2 days away from being 9/11. After that, we walked to Battery Park where we had a nice view of the Statue of Liberty. We had high hopes of doing other touristy things like walking in Central Park and seeing the Empire State building but by day 3 of NYFW my feet were DONE and I just couldn’t walk anymore. I needed to save my feet for the party that night because I was going to be in heels for hours! Later on I got ready for the last event, and Sara and I took an Uber to the Bowery Hotel where the LIKEtoKNOW.it party was. Again, I knew that the rewardStyle/LIKEtoKNOW.it team was going to throw an epic party and they truly did! The party revealed the brand new LIKEtoKNOW.it book, “Stories From the Influencer Next Door”, so there were books everywhere and the decor was insanely gorgeous (photo below). We were all gifted a book and a popsocket which was such a fun idea! The party was full of photo ops, a video booth (SO fun!!) and a DJ. I had the opportunity to meet one of my absolute favorite bloggers, Maria from MiaMiaMine. I have looked up to her for years so being able to meet her and talk to her in person was surreal. She was honestly one of the sweetest people I talked to during NYFW, and that made me so happy to see someone who is so incredibly successful but still so down to earth and sweet. Some people have let their “Instagram fame” get to their head, but Maria was honestly so nice, welcoming, and easy to talk to. If you don’t already follow her blog and Instagram (@miamiamine) you need to ASAP!! Overall, the party was amazing and the night was so fun. I loved hanging out with my new blogger friends, and I can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
My fave girlies- Jenn & Sara
DAY 4:Ā I found a NYC photographer on Instagram as soon as I booked my trip, and we got to shoot in SoHo together on Sunday before I went home. I shot all 3 looks that I wore to the NYFW events I attended. Unfortunately it was raining throughout the whole shoot, but Angelene is so talented and made the pictures look amazing despite the rain. Normally when I shoot blog photos I change in my car, but since I was in NY I didn’t have a car so I had to change in a tiny little pop up tent on the sidewalk- it was about 6 inches shorter than me which was hilarious, but it got the job done! There’s so much that goes on behind the scenes of shooting blog pictures that people don’t think of, but it’s always worth it in the end when you get the pictures back. I have been sharing a lot of my photos on my Instagram, so make sure you check those out. I will post my other two looks that I shot with Angelene in the next couple of weeks, so make sure you check back here to see those!
Changing in a tent on the street- the glamorous side of blogging š
My first NYFW was one for the books, and I can’t wait to go back next year. If you have ever considered going to NYFW but have any reservations, my advice would be to go no matter what! It was such a good experience and I met so many amazing people from it, so I highly recommend it. If you have any specific questions for me, please let me know. I hope you enjoyed seeing a peek into my NYFW experience! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Nice to read your recap!! Sounds like you had a blast! I think the best part of blogging is meeting great people. Any advice you can give to a newbie blogger ? Iām just getting started blogging but hope to experience NYFW in the future š
Hey Anna! I’m so glad you enjoyed my recap- thanks for reading it š I totally agree that one of the best parts about the blogging is the community of women it brings to you. My advice to you would be to create certain goals for yourself (ex. become a rewardStyle blogger, reach X amount of followers on Instagram, reach out to X amounts of brands for collabs each week) and hold yourself accountable to those goals. Create certain tasks for yourself daily that will help you accomplish them because before you know it, you will have lots of opportunities open up in the blogging world. I hope that makes sense and is helpful!! xo Kimmie
