Celebrating National Blowout Day

Did you know that July 28th is National Blowout Day? That means you should go and treat yourself to a blowout today! Blowouts are one of my favorite services EVER…there is no cutting or coloring involved. Your stylist will wash, dry, and style your hair for you…it’s one of my favorite ways to pamper myself! I don’t know about you, but I dread hair washing day. The whole process of washing, drying, and styling my hair is very tedious, so paying a professional to do it all for me is very appealing!

I went to Beauty Brands to get my blowout done and I saw the stylist, Brittany. When I first sat down in her chair, I told her the style I wanted, which was big, voluminous curls. After that, she washed my hair and used a purple shampoo to keep my blonde super bright, and she used a deep conditioner because my hair was feeling dry. Next she dried my hair and used the round brush (which is something I cannot do myself!). After my hair was completely dry, she used a 1.25 inch Babyliss Pro curling iron to create my big curls. I am SO happy with how my hair turned out! There’s nothing better than letting a professional style your hair every once in a while…especially on #NationalBlowoutDay 🙂

I wanted to share a few reasons why I love blowouts and why I think they are so worth it.

  • Blowouts can last 3-5 days

Okay, that reason ALONE is so worth it to me! Like I mentioned earlier, the whole hair washing day process is something I dread. I have to wash my hair at least 2-3 times a week, but a professional blowout ALWAYS lasts me so long. I have more time to get ready in the mornings after a blowout because I barely have to touch up my hair.

  • Blowouts make you feel good

Is there any better feeling than getting pampered? The answer is no in my book! I love having a professional do my hair because it always looks so nice and gives me a little extra confidence when I walk out of the salon.

  • Less heat damage

As I mentioned above, when you get a blowout you don’t have to wash or style your hair for at least 3-5 days. That means you aren’t putting any heat or hot tools on your hair for those extra days which is helping prevent any unnecessary heat damage. That is a huge win for me!

I have gotten so many blowouts over the past few years so I really feel like I know how to extend the life of a blowout as long as possible. Here are my tips & tricks:

  • Sleep on a silk pillowcase. It is much more gentle on your hair and it’s also better for your skin.
  • Spray dry shampoo in your hair BEFORE bed. This will prevent oil build up while you sleep.
  • Use an Invisibboble to tie your hair in a low pony while you sleep. This will keep your hair from getting tangly, and the Invisibobble doesn’t cause any creasing.
  • In the morning, always wear a terry cloth lined shower cap when you take a shower. You don’t want your hair to get wet or frizzy!
  • Use anti humidity spray every couple of days. This one is my favorite!
  • Don’t be afraid to touch up your hair on your own. I usually need to touch up my front pieces every morning and I will run a brush through the rest of my hair.

Hopefully these tips will be helpful to you next time you get a blowout so you can get the most out of it 🙂
