Without further ado, here’s the interview about Spring fashion…
1) If you could piece together your version of a “perfect” spring outfit, what would it be?
Krystin Lee: “Crisp white blazer, blue and white gingham dress, fun brooch, fedora and red bow pumps.”
Sophie Elkus: “My perfect spring outfit right now is a pair of white high-waisted pants paired with a pastel top, a trench coat and ballet flats. I’ve been loving light colors lately and a chic pant alternative to a dress.”
Caitlin Lindquist: “To me the perfect spring outfit is light, soft and ethereal, reflecting the warming temperatures. I’m really into blush pink, light grey, and off white right now – colors that can work as a neutral but when paired together, create the perfect romantic balance. Currently my go-to outfit includes the cutest suede low heeled sandals, and an almond colored off-shoulder dress. It’s such an easy breezy outfit to throw on and run out the door for a fun afternoon in the sun.”
Ashley Guyatt: “Now that Spring is here and the temps have been in the high 70’s – 80’s, there’s no looking back! The perfect spring outfit to me is really what my perfect summer outfit is: One Teaspoon shorts, a feminine, loose white blouse with some crochet lace details, and my favorite hat. You can also bet that I’m in my new favorite lace up Steve Madden sandals. The more sun that hits my skin, the better!”
Brooke Webb: “Right now I am completely obsessed with distressed boyfriend jeans and plain white tees. There is nothing particularly special about this look but it is simple, chic, crisp, and no fuss. Throw on a light moto jacket and a silky bandana scarf and you’ve got the perfect spring look!”
2) Are there any winter pieces in your closet that you can transition into your spring wardrobe?
Krystin Lee: “Definitely my black leather jacket from Danier Leather. I’ve also been scooping up boho inspired blouses in light creams and whites to get me through to spring.”
Sophie Elkus: “Since I live in LA, I tend not to dress too seasonally – at least in the wintertime. I save most of my faux furs and layers for NYC and snow trips and wear light layers in LA. That being said, I wear my Stuart Weitzman suede over the knee boots well into spring with skirts and dresses.”
Caitlin Lindquist: “I think booties are too often seen as a winter shoe. But I love pairing my favorites with a fun flowy frock during the springtime. They can add a bit of edge to a girly look, or keep your feet warm if the weather isn’t cooperating. So don’t throw all your booties in the back of your closet just yet!”
Ashley Guyatt: “I love to keep my comfy sweaters into the spring. Like I said above, my perfect outfit usually involves my One Teaspoon shorts; my chunky comfy sweaters are perfect for the cooler spring days where I still want to wear shorts, but be comfortable if the temps are lower than I expected them to be. They’re also perfect for beach nights!”
Brooke Webb: “Absolutely! Every winter I invest in a few oversized light sweaters…sweaters that are light enough to wear during those early spring days when the temps are still rather cool. These light sweaters are perfect for jeans/sandals or even with a great pair of shorts. Beyond that…booties! There is no reason to put your booties up come springtime…wear them with jeans/tees, skirts, dresses, shorts, etc.”
3) What’s trending this spring? Are there any specific colors or patterns you are excited about wearing?
Krystin Lee: “I love that we’re seeing a revival of the Nautical inspired trend. Whether it’s stripes, check print or gingham, the red, white and blue combo is always one of my favs!”
Sophie Elkus: “I don’t pay much attention to trends; I prefer to just wear classic pieces that I love. I do however love all the pastels, lace and matching top and bottom floral prints that are big this season – I’d wear those year round!”
Caitlin Lindquist: “There are a lot of fun trends this spring. Rainbow details, slip dresses, blush colors, off the shoulder, Spanish influenced patterns, ruffles – the list goes on. Personally I’m loving romantic silhouettes, ruffles, and Spanish patterns. For example, I just ordered this maxi dress with the prettiest blue pattern on it. I love how the skirt falls and the way it moves (I feel like the flamenco dancer emoji!). It also has really subtle crochet details around the sleeves that really makes it quite beautiful. I would recommend finding one or two trends that really fit your personal style and have fun with them! And don’t try to push yourself into a trend that isn’t you.”
Ashley Guyatt: “I think we’re going to be seeing a ton of 70s inspiration this spring. I’m really excited about high-waisted button-fly shorts & pants. I already have a pair of shorts with this button-fly detail, and I have my sights set on a few pairs of flared denim with the same style feature!”
Brooke Webb: “Of course light pink is trending this spring…it is everywhere! I’m excited to wear softer pastel colors this spring season such as light pink and baby blue. Bold stripes, dots, and florals are also trending this season as well. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with any of those patterns!”
Thank you to Krystin, Sophie, Caitlin, Ashley, and Brooke for sharing their exclusive and insightful spring fashion tips! I hope you are as inspired as I am to put together some amazing spring outfits!
