Christmas Sugar Cookie Recipe

Christmas is such a special time of year for me because of my family’s traditions. My sisters and I used to decorate Christmas cookies together every year when we were little, but sadly that tradition started to fizzle out when we got older. I decided that I wanted to bring that tradition back this year!

I found the most DELICIOUS recipe for soft Christmas sugar cookies that I wanted to share with you. If you would like to see the recipe I used for these cookies, keep on reading!

Christmas Sugar Cookie Recipe

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter until smooth with a handheld mixer. Add the sugar and beat on high until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until fully combined
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  6. Add about half of the flour mixture to the wet ingredients bowl, beating until combined. Add the rest of the flour mixture until fully combined.
  7. Lay parchment paper on your counter as a work space. Sprinkle flour over the parchment paper, and dump dough onto paper. Flour top of dough and rolling pin. Roll out dough to 1/3-inch thickness or whatever thickness desired. (The thicker the cookies, the softer they will be).
  8. Cut out shapes and transfer to prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges start to turn golden brown (time may vary based on thickness).

If you want to make these cookies taste EXTRA delicious, you can add this next step that I love to do! I bought vanilla frosting and Christmas colored sprinkles to frost the cookies with. This step seriously takes these cookies from a 10 to a 15 on a scale of yumminess!

If you try out this recipe, let me know! They are super simple to make and they taste sooo good! The only problem is they are so good that they may disappear a little too quickly 🙂 Merry Christmas and happy baking!

What’s on my Christmas Wish List

Happy Friday and happy December! Only 23 days until Christmas…eeeek!! If you can’t tell, I am super excited! I love everything about Christmas…the traditions, the family time, the food…the list goes on and on.

Today I wanted to share the items that are on my Christmas list. I love finding out what is on other people’s wish lists, so I thought it would be fun to give you a peek into my list this year.

My Wish List:

Zella Zip Up– Cute workout clothes motivate me to go to the gym…enough said 😉

Spoon Rest & Cookie Cutters– I know I am officially an adult when I ask for kitchen items on my wish list! But how cute is this pink spoon rest and rose gold cookie cutters?!

Pajamas– It’s been a tradition in my family to receive PJ’s on Christmas morning, so I made sure to add these cute ones from VS to my list!

Uggs– Have you ever seen cuter Uggs before? I love these mini ones in the Chestnut suede color (insert heart eye emoji here)!

Hunter Boots & Socks– I don’t know how I’ve gone this long without rain boots! I have always wanted a pair of Hunter rain boots, but I could never decide on a color. I’ve finally decided that I need something neutral that can be worn year round.

Fondue Set– My sister has this and we used it a few weekends ago and it was so fun! I foresee many fondue parties in my future…yummmm!

Camera Lens– New camera lens=better blog photos! This is one of the best lenses for fashion photography!

What is one must have item on your list this year?!
