Fall is my favorite season for fashion because everything in my wardrobe is so cozy and comfortable! I also love fall because of Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but that’s beside the point.

If you are like me and love wearing oversized sweaters, I am here to tell you 3 stylish ways to wear them without looking frumpy.

1. Play with proportions.

If you are going to wear a big, baggy sweater, it’s vital that you do not also wear big, baggy pants. I would suggest wearing skinny jeans or leggings with your oversized sweater in order to give your body more shape. This step will help make your outfit look cute and stylish instead of baggy and frumpy.

2. Dress it up.

When you are wearing a casual, oversized sweater, I always suggest dressing up the whole look with some heels. You can go out on a date on a cool, fall night in your cozy sweater yet still look chic and put together because of your heels.

3. Don’t be afraid to show a little skin.

I love pairing my oversized sweater with a lacy bralette underneath. There’s nothing wrong with showing a little skin when you are wearing a big sweater. An oversized off the shoulder sweater is another perfect way to show a little skin in the fall and winter months.

Eyelash Extensions: My Experience + FAQS

Have you ever been curious about getting eyelash extensions? If you want to learn more about lash extensions and hear my personal experience and opinions, keep on reading!

I have had eyelash extensions done in the past, but I went to a new studio this time and I wanted to share my recent experience and answer frequently asked questions.

My Experience

When I got to Glow Studio, I met with Trang who is a licensed esthetician. Before we got started with the extensions, she asked me several questions like:

-Do you sleep on your side(s)?

-Do you have a tendency to tug on your lashes or rub your eyes a lot?

-Do you wear contacts or glasses?

Those are all important questions to be asked before you get started because sometimes eyelash extensions aren’t a great fit for everyone. If you know you always sleep on one or both sides or even on your stomach, your eyelash extensions will fall out much faster because you are putting a lot of pressure on them while you sleep. It’s not always worth paying for extensions if you know you have certain habits that will make your lashes fall out faster than normal.

After Trang asked me those questions, we talked about the eyelash look I desired. I told her that since I have smaller eyes, I wanted a look that opened up my eyes and made them appear larger. She told me she was going to put longer lashes in the middle, and make them a little shorter on the inner and outer corners. She measured my eyelashes to see what length my natural lashes could take without causing damage. This is SO important!! You want to find an eyelash technician that cares about your well being! If you go in and say that you want Kim Kardashian lashes and they say “okay sounds great!”, you should run for the hills! If the eyelash extensions are too heavy or too long for your natural lashes, they can (and will) cause damage to your natural lashes. Always go into your appointments with realistic expectations!

Before my extensions were applied, Trang shampooed my lashes. It’s nice to find a technician that cares about being cleanly and prioritizes eye health and safety! Once my eyelashes were all clean and prepped, it was time for my extensions to be applied. After a few hours, she was all finished with the eyelash application.

Once she was completely done and I looked in the mirror, I knew I was going to be hooked again! I love how extensions look so natural yet dramatic at the same time. There is nothing better than waking up, throwing on some concealer and walking out the door. I love that I can get ready in 5 minutes in the morning because the eyelashes are so beautiful you don’t need to do anything else (except for me, I HAVE to cover my under eye bags).

If you are considering getting eyelash extensions, I would say go for it! If you have a special event coming up, I HIGHLY suggest getting them done! It is so wonderful having them on a daily basis, but if that’s not in your budget then I would say try them out for an event! When you are looking for a place to get them done, make sure you ask the right questions beforehand! You want to make sure that you find a studio that cares about eye safety and wants to keep your natural lashes looking beautiful and healthy.

Here are my before and after pictures. It’s fun to have your lash technician take these pictures so you can see the drastic difference!

Eyelash Extension FAQs

How often do I need to get my extensions filled?

Eyelash extensions last anywhere from 2-4 weeks. From my experience, I can wait 3 weeks in between lash fills. If you take good care of them, they will last longer.

How are they applied?

One eyelash extension is applied to each one of your natural lashes. As you can imagine, this takes a few hours to do.

Can I wear eye makeup?

You can absolutely wear eye makeup, but if you can avoid wearing mascara then you should. You shouldn’t feel the need to wear mascara since your extensions will look so beautiful, but I have worn mascara in the past between appointments when I needed to fill in some gaps in my lashes.

How do I wash my eyelash extensions?

Use an eye makeup remover that is oil free. I use this face cleanser that also takes off eye makeup, and it cleans my eyelash extensions perfectly!

What should I avoid doing when I have eyelash extensions?

Avoid saunas, extremely hot showers, etc. High heat breaks down the glue and makes your lash extensions fall out prematurely.

How to Grow Out Your Hair

Shampoo | Conditioner | Heat Protectant | Brush

If you have ever gotten your hair cut a little too short and immediately regretted it, I am here to tell you the tricks to growing it out again! When I was in college, my hair came to a certain length and just stopped growing. I felt like there was nothing I could do to make it grow longer, and I was super frustrated. I did not realize at that time that I was the reason my hair was not growing. I was straightening my hair everyday, using drugstore products, and I was not getting regular haircuts. Fortunately about a year before my wedding I figured out the trick to growing out my hair, and now it’s the longest and healthiest it’s ever been!! If you want to learn the tricks that have worked for me, keep reading!

  1. Find your person. This is definitely the most important step of all! Once you find a reputable hair salon to go to, you need to find your “person” aka your go to hair stylist, and stick with them forever. In college when I would get my hair cut and colored, I would call and make an appointment with whoever was available. Each time I went in for my appointment, I was seeing a new person who didn’t know my long term hair goals, and they would pretty much do whatever they wanted to my hair. This was a crucial mistake I was making! Once I found someone I loved, I decided to stick with her. We talked about my hair goals so we both knew what I wanted to accomplish: long, healthy, blonde hair. Every time I go in for a hair appointment, she always knows what to do because she is aware of my wants and needs.
  2. Get Frequent Trims. I know this may sound counterintuitive to growing out your hair, but this was a game changer for me! When I was in college, I always put off getting hair cuts. I hated that awkward “just got my haircut” look so I rarely got it cut, and what a huge mistake that was! When I started seeing “my person”, she would trim my hair every other hair appointment, so about every 12 weeks. I could not believe how quickly my hair started growing because of my trims!
  3. Use a Good Brush. This may sound silly, but brushing wet hair can cause damage if you’re not careful. If you are not gentle while brushing your hair or if you are not using a good brush, your hair can break off and become damaged, which makes it even harder to grow out. I swear by The Wet Brush because it gently detangles hair, and it was recommended to me by my hair stylist (and she knows everything!!!)
  4. Use High Quality Products. I promise that using high quality products is worth the investment. Using a salon grade shampoo, conditioner, and heat protectant will make a world of a difference. Sadly, shampoos and conditioners from the drugstore have fillers in them like wax (that leave a nasty, sticky buildup in your hair) and they don’t have all of the ingredients they claim to have in them. Your hair will thank you if you are using high quality products! Ask your stylist what salon products he/she recommends for your hair.
  5. Avoid the Heat. This tip has been MAJOR for me in my hair journey. If you can avoid drying your hair and using hot tools on your hair, then do it! I let my hair air dry about 90% of the time, and it has made my hair so much healthier. I rarely use a hair straightener anymore, but I do use a curling iron a lot. I make sure that I am always putting a heat protectant in my hair after I shower to keep my hair safe from the heat damage that curling irons cause.

I hope those 5 tips are helpful to you on your journey to longer, healthier hair! If you live in St. Louis, I highly recommend making a hair appointment with Reese and Studio Branca. If you have any other questions about growing your hair out, just leave me a comment down below!

Dress: Cupcakes and Cashmere | Belt: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Dolce Vita | Bag: Kate Spade (Old), Similar | Watch: Michele | Bracelets: David Yurman, Hermes

I don’t think there is anything I love more than flouncy, floral dresses for fall! Dresses are by far my favorite piece of clothing to wear because they make the perfect base for creating a stylish and put together outfit.

When I found this dress at my favorite local boutique, La Ville, I was so happy! Right away, I was thinking of all of the different ways I would style this dress when I wear it again (AND again) this fall. You can add a blazer to this dress and pair it with heels for a work meeting, you can wear it with fringe booties and an oversized knitted cardigan, or you can wear it with riding boots and a jean vest. The options are truly endless with this dress!

I am obsessed with everything Cupcakes and Cashmere lately as you may have noticed. A couple of my other favorite pieces are this flannel shirt and this leather jacket.

What clothing items are you crazy about this fall?! Let me know in the comments down below!

How to Create the Perfect Nude Lip

How to Create the Perfect Nude Lip

A nude lip is about as classic as it gets in the world of makeup! I think it is so important for every woman to have a “go to” nude lip combo to pair with any and every makeup look. I personally like my nude lip to be more pink than brown, and I have found the best combination of lip products to achieve the perfect nude lip. Keep reading to find out what products I use.

Step One: Apply Lip Liner

I use Mac Boldly Bare lip liner to line my lips. I also fill in the corners of my lips to add a little more definition before applying my lipstick.

1 2

Step Two: Apply Liquid Lipstick

After my lip liner is applied, it’s time to add the liquid lipstick. I love this Tarte Namaste Lip Paint because it is the perfect nude color and it is VERY long lasting. If you prefer a more classic nude lip, you can stop after this step. I personally like my nude lip to have more pink in it, so if you also like a pinkier lip, continue onto step three.3

Step Three: Apply Lipstick

I love applying Mac Creme Cup lipstick over the liquid lipstick. This lipstick adds just enough pink to the lip to give it a little color, yet it is still the perfect nude color.

Step Four: Apply Lip Gloss

I love topping off my nude lip with some gloss. I don’t like the feeling of matte lips, so I always like to add some gloss to my lips. This NYX Eclair Butter Gloss is my favorite lip gloss I’ve ever come across. I prefer it over the Chanel, Mac, and Bobbi Brown lip gloss formulas…and it’s only $4.99! It is not sticky or tacky feeling, and it adds just enough color and shine to your lips.

Those four lip products complete the perfect nude lip look! If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the comment section down below! Thanks for stopping by!
